Standards & compliance
On 1 August 2026 China completed a full revision cycle of its concrete admixture standards. Here is what changed, how to verify it, and where to get the documents.
What changed
The revisions that directly affect admixture purchasing and acceptance
In force
Published 2025-10-31 · In force 2026-08-01 · Fully replaces GB 8076-2008
Mandatory GB → recommended GB/T
- Adds two product families: waterproofing admixture (WrA-C) and anti-freeze admixture (AfA-C)
- Introduces a marking rule, e.g. L-HPWR-A GB/T 8076-2025 (state – code – standard number)
- Chloride ion limit changed to ≤0.10%, tested to GB/T 8077 with ion chromatography as the referee method
- Adds limits for released ammonia (≤0.10%) and residual formaldehyde (≤500 mg/kg) for indoor and underground use
- Air content of high-performance water reducers tightened from ≤6.0% to ≤4.5%
- Pumping aids: 1 h slump loss tightened from ≤80 mm to ≤60 mm, plus a new pressure bleeding ratio ≤90%
- Bleeding ratio requirement removed for high-range water reducers, early-strength, retarding and air-entraining admixtures
- “Relative durability (200 cycles)” renamed “freezing resistance index”; limit unchanged at ≥80%
- Factory acceptance test items increased from 8 to 15
Mandatory
Published 2025-08-01 · In force 2026-08-01 · New mandatory standard
Mandatory national standard
- First safety specification dedicated to concrete admixtures, in force the same day as GB/T 8076-2025
- Export and acceptance checks now need to cover both safety and performance limits
In force
Published 2017-12-29 · In force 2018-11-01 · Replaces JC 477-2005
Recommended national standard
- JC 477-2005 was withdrawn on 2024-08-09 — testing and acceptance should move to this standard
- Split by alkali content into alkali-free (liquid) and low-alkali (powder), then Type I (setting time) and Type II (strength)
- Adds stability, pH and dosage range requirements; 90 d strength retention ≥100% for alkali-free types
